Thank you for your ongoing support of the HOPE Coalition as it provides safe, emergency housing and advocacy services to local families experiencing child abuse, family violence, or homelessness.  Because of your support, over 1700 people received crisis intervention services through the work of the HOPE Coalition last year.

Every day, we help people like Tonya – a young mother desperately trying to escape a long-term abusive relationship; and Adam – a homeless and abusive alcoholic who, with the help of HOPE, was able to get sober, find a job and apartment, and begin the journey of reuniting his family.

HOPE Coalition receives annual funding from the Minnesota Office of Justice Programs. State and federal funding has decreased each year, and will in all likelihood continue to decrease. This year, although HOPE Coalition’s grant application scored an 89.8 out of 100 points and placed 31^st out of 151 applications, the agency was awarded $620,066 – a loss of $78,813 (12%).  In years past, the Haven of Hope received funds to operate 24 shelter beds.  This year it was funded to operate only 20 beds – a 17% drop in capacity.  Last year 87 families were unable to stay at our shelter due to lack of space.

Our new fiscal year begins on October 1^st, 2012. To ensure that no essential programs are cut, we are asking you to consider becoming a sustaining donor to the HOPE Coalition.  For only $10 a month, you can help a local family regain independence and hope for the future. If each person receiving this mailing contributes $10 per month, it will generate $50,000 – enough to restore three of the four lost shelter beds.
